Winterbourne Medieval Barn

Floral Design for Winterbourne Medieval Barn

There is nowhere quite like Winterbourne Medieval Barn. Built in 1342, it features a soaring timber cruck frame and ancient stone walls, creating an atmosphere you can't manufacture.

Because the Barn is so vast and historic, "supermarket flowers" or small, tight posies can get lost here. You need texture, scale, and warmth.

Our Styling Strategy

Warmth & Texture: The stone can feel cool, so we use warm, textural elements like dried grasses, seed heads, and deep greenery mixed with fresh blooms to soften the space.

The Stone Pillars: We love creating "broken arches" or floor-standing meadow arrangements at the base of the stone pillars. This frames the ceremony area without damaging the historic fabric of the building.

Banquet Styling: If you are having long trestle tables for a medieval-style banquet, we recommend low, flowing foliage runners interspersed with brass candlesticks and bud vases. This fills the table with colour while allowing guests to chat throughout the dinner.

The Local Experts

Based in Westerleigh, we are practically neighbours to the Barn. We understand the specific rules regarding heritage buildings (no pins in the wood!) and how to style them effectively.
